Why We Do Not Sell Maintenance Plans
Monthly ongoing treatment for people with no symptoms is a business model, not a clinical one.
Plenty of clinics offer ongoing maintenance care — a session every four or six weeks, indefinitely, for people whose original complaint has resolved. We do not, and it is worth explaining why rather than leaving it as a gap in the price list.
The Evidence Is Thin
There is some for a narrow group with recurrent, chronic low back pain. There is very little supporting indefinite treatment for people who are currently well, which is who maintenance plans are mostly sold to.
It Changes the Relationship
Once a clinic’s revenue depends on people attending while symptom-free, discharge becomes a cost. That is a quiet pressure and it does not need anyone to be dishonest to distort decisions.
What We Offer Instead
Discharge with a programme, and an open door. If something recurs, book an extended review and we will pick it up. Plenty of our patients come back once every couple of years and that seems about right.
The Exception
If you have genuinely recurrent chronic back pain and we have jointly found that periodic treatment keeps you working and active, we will arrange it — as a considered clinical decision, discussed, and reviewed. What we will not do is put it on the price list as a product.
